Admission requirements for postgraduate studies

  1. General conditions for admission for postgraduate studies

    First: The following are generally required for admission to postgraduate studies:

    1) The applicant must be one of the categories allowed to apply, which are:

    -The Saudis.

    - Citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

    - Students on external scholarships (provided that the scholarship is not interrupted).

    - Regular residents (internal scholarships).

    2) The applicant must have a degree from a Saudi university, or from another recognized university that has been approved by the Ministry of Education.

    3) The doctoral applicant’s rating should not be less than (very good), with an average of (3.75 out of 5 or 2.75 out of 4).

    4) The applicant’s grade for the master’s degree must not be less than (very good), with a grade point average of (3.75 out of 5 or 2.75 out of 4), except for programs in the faculties of engineering, computers, and sciences, in which the following must be obtained:

          a. Average (3.50 out of 5) or (2.50 out of 4) in the programs of the College of Engineering, Science, and Computer.

          B. Average (2.75 out of 5) or (1.75 out of 4) in (Professional Master’s in Industrial Laboratories) in the College of Science.

    5) The applicant’s grade for the higher diploma stage must not be less than (Good).

    6) The age of the external scholarship applicant must not exceed (30) years for the master’s level, and (35) years for the doctoral level (an exception may be made from this).

    7) The applicant must be of good conduct and medically fit.

    8) To submit two academic recommendations from professors who previously taught him.

    9) If the applicant is an employee, when issuing his registration, he is required to: (bring the approval of the employer).

    10) Passing the standard achievement test (admission test) with a score of no less than (70).

    11) Passing the general aptitude test for university graduates with a score of no less than (65).

    12) For admission to the two levels (Master’s and Doctorate) it is required to agree to allow the university to make the full text of the thesis or research project available on the university’s websites and local databases - with or without compensation - with a stipulation of the percentage of work for the researcher, without any financial or legal obligation on the university. .

    13) Requirements for admission to the (higher diploma) stage are: memorization of (one Juz) of the Holy Qur’an in non-Sharia specializations, and (three 
    Juz) in Sharia specializations.

     

    Second: The most important conditions for passing the stage:

    1) The student passes the supplementary courses; If the department decides
    it to studied by the student.

    2 The student in the two stages (Master’s and Doctorate) passes the Holy Qur’an test, which is held during the semester following the completion of the courses, according to the following:

          a. Amount of memorization for the (Master’s) stage: (five 
    Juz) of the Holy Qur’an in the Sharia specializations, (three Juz) in the Islamic systems and economics specializations, linguistic and educational specializations, and (one part) in the scientific specializations.

          B. Amount of memorization for the doctoral stage: (ten 
    Juz) of the Holy Qur’an in the Sharia specializations, (five Juz) in the Islamic systems and economics specializations, linguistic and educational specializations, and (two Juz) in the scientific specializations.

    3) The student passes the comprehensive examination for the (PhD) stage.

    4) In order to pass the (PhD) stage, it is required that the student have a research published or accepted for publication in the field of specialization, and it may be taken from his thesis at the (PhD) stage. Proof of this is a condition for receiving (PhD thesis) and completing the procedures for discussing it. The student can submit The publication of the research or its acceptance for publication is confirmed when it is initially submitted to the program, and (5) points are credited to it in addition to the score on the achievement test. He is then exempted from the publishing requirement before receiving the thesis and completing the discussion procedures.

    5) Any other conditions that the Council of the Deanship of Graduate Studies deems appropriate to add.

     

    Note: The scholarship student who graduated from the Islamic University and completed the bachelor’s stage is given one opportunity to apply for the (master’s) stage, and he has the right to apply for the (diploma) stage in the same year, and the (diploma) is his last chance.

     

    College-specific conditions

    In addition to the general conditions, the following are required for admission to the College of Sharia:

    1) The applicant for the (Master’s) stage in the two specializations (Jurisprudence and Principles of Jurisprudence) must be a graduate of one of the Sharia colleges.

    2) The applicant for the doctoral level must be closely specialized in the departments of jurisprudence and the principles of jurisprudence.

     

    In addition to the general conditions, the requirements for admission to the College of Laws and Judicial Systems Studies are:

    1) The applicant for the (Master of Judiciary) program must have a Bachelor’s degree in Sharia or Judicial Studies or its equivalent.

    2) The applicant for the (Master of Laws) program must have a Bachelor’s degree in Sharia or Laws, or its equivalent.

    3) The applicant for doctoral programs must have a master’s degree in the specialty for which he is applying.

     

    In addition to the general conditions, the requirements for admission to the College of Da’wah and Fundamentals of Religion are:

       A- Department of Islamic theology:

         1) The applicant must have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in full attendance.

         2) The applicant for the (Master’s) stage must have a (Bachelor’s) degree from the College of Da’wah, or one of the Sharia colleges.

         3) The applicant for the (PhD) program in (Faith) must have a (Master’s) in the specialty to which he is applying.

       B- Department of Islamic propagation and Culture:

        1) For admission to the (diploma) stage, the applicant must have a bachelor’s degree from a Saudi university, or a recognized university.

        2) For admission to the (Master’s) stage, the applicant must have a (Bachelor’s) qualification in one of the Sharia specializations from a Saudi university, or an accredited university.

        3) To be accepted into the (PhD) stage, the applicant must have a (Master’s) qualification in one of the specializations (Da’wah, Hisbah, Islamic Culture, or Oriental Studies) from a Saudi university, or an accredited university.
  2.  C- Department of Education:

         Requirements for admission to the Master’s degree in all courses of the department are:

        1) The scholarship student obtains an “educational preparation certificate” for scholarship students offered by the department.

        2) The Saudi non-educational student from outside the university obtains a (general diploma in education).

        3) The Saudi student graduating from the university’s colleges must pass supplementary courses determined by the department.

        4) The applicant for the Diploma in Guidance and Counseling program must be a scholarship student.

       D- Department of Islamic History:

         The applicant for the Master’s degree must be from outside the university and specialize in history.

     

      In addition to the general conditions, the requirements for admission to the College of the Holy Quran and Islamic Studies are:

       A-  Department of
    Readings:

        1) The applicant for the department must have memorized the entire Qur’an and memorized the texts (Al-Shatibiyyah and Al-Durrah).

        2) The applicant for the
    department must have studied: (the qu'anic script, symbolizing the Qur’an, counting the verses, and Tajweed).

        3) The applicant must have a certificate according to the (total attendance) system.

       B- Department of Interpretation and Qur’anic Sciences:

        1) The applicant for (PhD) must be specialized in (Master’s) in (interpretation, Holy Quran sciences, Quranic studies, or readings).

        2) The applicant must have a certificate according to the (total attendance) system.

     

      In addition to the general conditions, the requirements for admission to the College of Noble Hadith are:

       A- Department of Sunnah Jurisprudence and its Sources:

        1) The applicant for the (Master’s) stage must have a bachelor’s degree from the College of Hadith or one of the Sharia colleges.

        2) The applicant must have a certificate according to the (total attendance) system.

        3) The applicant for the doctoral level must be a specialist in a specific field.

       B- Department of Hadith Sciences:

        1) The applicant for the (Master’s) stage must have a bachelor’s degree from the College of Hadith or one of the Sunnah departments or courses.

        2) The applicant must have a certificate according to the (total attendance) system.

        3) The applicant for the doctoral level must be a specialist in a specific field.

     

    Requirements for admission to the College of Arabic Language - in addition to the general conditions - are:

       A- In the Departments of Linguistics, Literature and Rhetoric:

           The applicant must be a graduate of the Arabic language departments.

     

    Requirements for admission to the College of Engineering - in addition to the general conditions - are:

       The field of mechatronics and robotics:

        1) The applicant must have a bachelor’s degree (regular) from a Saudi academic body or an accredited university in one of the following specializations: (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering), with a cumulative GPA of no less than (3.50 out of 5) or (2.50 out of 4).

        2) The applicant must obtain a minimum score of (450) in the TOEFL-PBT test, or (45) in the TOEFL-IBT test, or (4) in the (IELTS) test, or (67) in the STEP test. ) or its equivalent, and that it must not have been more than two years since he obtained the degree.

     

      Requirements for admission to: Master of Computer Science, Master of Data Science, Master of Virtual Reality, Master of Security Technologies - in addition to the general conditions -:

        1) The applicant must have a bachelor’s degree (regular) from a Saudi academic body or an accredited university in one of the following specializations: (computer science, software engineering, information technology, information systems, non-educational computer specializations), with a cumulative GPA of no less than ( 3.50 out of 5) or (2.50 out of 4).

        2) The applicant must obtain a minimum score of (450) in the TOEFL-PBT test, or (45) in the TOEFL-IBT test, or (4) in the IELTS test, or (67) in the STEP test. ) or its equivalent, and that it must not have been more than two years since he obtained the degree.

     

      In addition to the general conditions, the requirements for admission to the College of Science are:

       Field of Master of Science in Mathematics:

        1) The applicant must have a bachelor’s degree (regular) from a Saudi academic body or a recognized university in the field of mathematics with a cumulative GPA of no less than (3.50 out of 5) or 2.50 out of 4).

        2) The applicant must obtain a minimum score of (450) in the (TOEFL-PBT) test, or (45) in the (TOEFL-IBT) test, or (4) in the (IELTS) test, or (60) in the (STEP) test, or What is equivalent to it, and that it must not have been more than two years since he obtained the degree.

       Field of Professional Master in Industrial Laboratories:

        1) The applicant’s grade in the bachelor’s degree stage must not be less than (good).

        2) The student must have a bachelor’s degree in (physics) or (chemistry).
